Lumpkin County authorities believe a 16-year-old teenager who disappeared nine days ago ran away from home.
But whether Hannah Thompson left her father’s home willingly on May 18 makes no difference to her family members. They still are worried.
Lumpkin investigators suspect that Hannah Thompson left her father’s home in Dahlonega and is staying with friends in Cumming. Yet searches of those friends’ homes have turned up no sign of the teenager, said Darren Martin, the public information officer for the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office....

I see why they're not gonna issue an Amber alert. She ran away! On her own free will at that. From what the article said, this isn't the first time. Seems to me that there are some serious issues with the family. The daughter has ran away..twice now. Always tight lipped. She's 16 and apparently dropped out because she's getting her GED. And she didn't even go to the classes. And she's obviously smart because she cancelled her Facebook and MySpace. Looks like she knows what she's doing to me!!!! _________________ R.I.P GrouchOldMan aka Jack Hiatt. You will be missed.

When talking to the Times staff , I was very nervous and upset. I don't always express myself the way I'd like , especially when I'm nervous. I did not mean Hannah was close -mouthed with her family, or tight lipped . I'm her great -aunt , we've had great times together at family dinners and out with her granny, Ellen , who's my sister. We didn't get into talking about her friends or anything like that. I don't know of any teenager that doesn't feel they know what's best for him or her. That's why we're so concerned , Hannah doesn't hurt people purposely. She's as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. It might be hard for some people to believe , but we are a normal family, we know God , and we don't put people down when they need support and help.

The family of Hannah were the ones puting the flyers around different counties. We got in contact with the Times and Nugget papers , and called and faxed papers to Fox 5 news. The sheriff of Lumpkin co . didn't even know about it , he said, when called by a family member. This was after the investagators were on the case a few days . We weren't getting much feedback at all. We didn't know until then an Amber Alert was only for abducted kids. How can we be sure that Hannah's not in danger , maybe she's tried to get in touch or come home and can't ? Only a parent or family mamber or someone that's gone through this can understand. Please pray she's coming home soon, safely.
