Strange things are afoot at the Lumpkin County Animal Shelter. And manager Valerie Dombrowski admits that she's not sure what she'll find each morning when she arrives at the Red Oak Flats facility.

| Alleged shoplifter accused of using crowd as camouflage |
The Gold Rush Days crowd was reaching a teeming peak Saturday afternoon when several Public Square business owners began to notice expensive items disappearing from their shelves.
Investigator Darren Martin said Dorothy Murfin planned it this way.
“She had kind of organized this, to do it while everything was going on,” he said.
